How do you De-active a Face-book?

I have to get rid of my Facebook and everyone is saying you have to De-active it but I cant figure out how to. If you can help me It would be great.

How do you De-active a Face-book?
Here's the facebook answer to deactivate your account:

If you're worried about who can see you and what they can see, remember that you have complete control over this and can edit your settings as you see fit from the Privacy page. If you still want to leave Facebook, you can deactivate your account from the "Settings" tab on the Account page.

Deactivation will completely remove your profile and all associated content on your account from Facebook. In addition, users will not be able to search for you or view any of your information. If you reactivate your account, your profile will be restored in its entirety (friends, photos, interests, etc.).

If you want to delete the account click this link:

Reply:account settings(cancel account)
Reply:deactivating it can be done under profile edit or account setting or watever but the real problem is erasing all of your files form their database. You need to actually callf acebook and demand they delete all of your info. They normally just keep everything on their database locked away.
Reply:In your account settings there should be a deactivation button. They will not cancel your account right away but deactivate it so that people can't get to it.
Reply:dont go on for a long time ^^
