Should places like you tube and face book be more stringent upon the contents of peoples vids and blogs?

Mainly to stop any more copycat shootings like the one yesterday in Finland

Should places like you tube and face book be more stringent upon the contents of peoples vids and blogs?
Absolutely....NOT. If a person doesn't want to read or see the site, s/he simply doesn't click on it !!!

Gad, man..you're proposing censorship !!! Big daddy in the sky or tower gets to pick what 'we' can see or read or write. On the surface it looks like a commendable idea; but right under the surface - "Oh please, big daddy, protect me and others and censor the crazy's, so that other crazy's won't copy them". It ain't rocket science !! Take one part hate filled jerk and one evil idea and ACT on it. Shame on him.

May I suggest as a better deterent : That we all, from this day forward, never use nor even remember this jerk's name. Wipe his memory from the face of the earth, along with that jerk from Virginia Tech and those two monsters at Columbine. Demonize them; yet, at the same time, consciously suppress their names and never use them in conversation.

IF we would all do this (and the jerks knew they would have no name nor infamy) now THAT would be a deterring factor.

I can hear you now. No, it wouldn't, cause they would say they 'don't care' if we remember them or not. They are lying. They do care a great deal. Just as the guy who pulled some big machine (moved it several feet) with his EAR - wants some attention (as do all the record holders in guiness, sports and celebrity) so, too, do these piles of dog doo doo.

Don't give it to them. Confront your local tv, newspapers and so on - when they use a name of an acting out kid (or adult). Ask friends to respect your wishes that 'his/her name' not be used in conversations.

In the Q%26amp;A forum : make it a policy NOT to type the 'name'; as I do.
Reply:I agree completely. I don't understand why these sites are needed at all. Shut them down... No voice, no listeners!
Reply:yep! they should in no way allow video's of criminal activity to be uploaded and viewed! i've seen loads of video's of people in stolen cars and they've even had their names up on there!
Reply:of course and they should report any unsavoury posts they come across to the police
Reply:Absolutely agree.

The number of "happy slapping" type videos is appalling. If they were not allowed and people didn´t have a forum to post them it may go some way to diminishing the number of these attacks.
Reply:yes they should
Reply:yes your right, I'm sure the guy from Finland got his account suspended twice, but how he got another account I dont know
Reply:yes it should be checked and bad things took off crime breeds crime and the kids today copy every think
Reply:There problem is that hundreds or maybe even thousands of videos, blogs, posts, messages etc. get posted on there from all over the world, every hour for 24 hours a day. There is nowhere near enough staff to monitor everything that goes on there. Most of it goes on without ever being seen by the site's staff. They would need loads and loads of offices full of staff monitoring each upload for 24 hours a day to keep on top of it, which is why it's almost impossible to filter it. They only act when content gets reported, they don't automatically stop the content going on the site in the first place - they can't. There is simply too much going on these sites to check everything, so most of it just goes on there. Until ways are developed that can automatically filter out content that contains inappropriate content (automatically detecting violent words, images etc.) and stops it being uploaded onto the site, then this problem will continue.
